About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Electronic Journal in Education and Pedagogy is an academic and free access publication that aims to contribute to the advancement, diffusion and critical analysis of topics related with the educational sciences, developed within scientific projects, that require to be disclosed in its specific field, so that, this knowledge reaches the academy and could be applied by transformation agents and managers of educational practices. The journal is a semiannual publication (January – June; July - December) that circulates at the beginning of each period, created in 2017 and financed by the Vice Rector of Research of the University CESMAG (Pasto-Nariño-Colombia). The abbreviated title of the Journal is: rev.electron.educ.pedagog

The Electronic Journal in Education and Pedagogy receives articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese. All articles published have a DOI (digital object identification) number that allows identifying the content and providing a continuous link to its lo­cation on the internet.

The dates of articles reception are reported in each respective calls. The articles must be sent by e-mail at revista.educacionypedagogia@unicesmag.edu.co and uploaded to the Open Journal System. The texts postulated to the journal must be original and unpublished works and should not be published or in process of evaluation in any other publication. The journal does not publish texts of the same author in a period of time of minimum two years.

The Journal submits all articles to antiplagiarism software. When the latter, fully or partially detects plagiarism or self-plagiarism without the corresponding citation, the text is rejected and it is proceed to notify the author.

Peer Review Process

The Editorial staff will verify if the received articles fulfill with the requirements shown in section Instructions for Authors.  This process stage could take between four and eight weeks and depends entirely on the aviabilty of reviewers. Then, Author will be notified if article is sent to pair review, if it needs format correction or if it is rejected due to to non-compliance with the journal requirements. Article will be rejected too if evidence of pagliarism or self-plagiarism is found.

Once the document overcomes the preliminar review, the article will be send to national and international pair-reviewers. The Editorial Committee will select the reviewers according to their research trajectory and academic experience. The evaluation process is done following the double-blind evaluation system, it means, authors do not know the reviewers identity and reviewers do not know the author identity. Reviewers have a deadline of fifteen days to submit the evaluation format and curriculum vitae. If the deadline is overcome and the reviewer does not submit the evaluation, other reviewer must be called. The publishing decision will be notified to the author under the following criteria: article published without further revisions; publishable article with minor modifications; publishable article with substantial modifications; not-publishable article. In the case of finding discrepancy between the reviewers, the text will be submitted to a third evaluator who will determine the article publication. In the case where one or more reviewers suggest changes, the author must prepare a second version in a maximum deadline of ten laboral days. The second submission will be verified by the Editorial Committe.

After that, the article is adjusted and sent to style correction and editorial layout. The final version is sent to author for approval. Finally, article volume and fascicle number will be notified to author. The publication is edited in Spanish. Articles in English and Portuguese are also accepted. The articles are published under a Licencia Creative Commons Atribución-NoComercial 4.0 Internacional..

Publication Frequency

The Electronic Journal on Education and Pedagogy publishes semi-annual publications, (January-June) (July-December).

Open Access Policy

This journal provides free and immediate access to its content, under the principle of making research available to the public free of charge, fostering a greater exchange of global knowledge.

The Electronic Journal in Education and Pedagogy is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

 

Self-archiving policy

In the works published in the journal, self-archiving is allowed in the repositories of the institutions to which the authors belong, of the version published by the editor (published version) and it is recommended to include in the registry the URL corresponding to the document

Terms:

  • Author and publisher rights must be credited.
  • A link to the published version of the article must be added.
  • Only the published version of the article should be self-archived.

To file

This magazine uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed file among the participating libraries, allowing these libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes. More information...

Publication Ethics and Agreement on Possible Bad Practices

The ethica policies of the Journal in Education and Pedagogy are governed by the Institutional Ethics regulation and takes in to account the standards collectedin the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and in International Standards for editors and authors published by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Some of them are below:

AUTHOR

The authors must submit articles through the Open Journal System (OJS) at the following link https://revedupe.unicesmag.edu.co/index.php/EDUPE and send the texts to revista.educacionpedagogia@unicesmag.edu.co

Authors should refer the author’s guidelines, which are publicly accessible. In there, the requirements that the articles must satisfy are specified (scientific articles, review, reflection, others as reviews and translations). These can be consulted in the link https://revedupe.unicesmag.edu.co/index.php/EDUPE/about/submissions. If authors are members of the Journal Editorial Staff, authors will be unfitted to evaluate their own paper.

If the authors make use of material that is not of their property, they must make sure to have the corresponding authorizations. For that reason, all authors must upload to OJS the originality format where the intellectual property is confirmed.

Although it is true, that the editorial team is following strict editorial processes to achieve high quality criteria, rigor and investigative relevance, the authors are responsible for the ethical suitability of the final text.

The articles are evaluated by external peers and are permanently reviewed by the Editorial staff that makes use of different software antiplagiarism. The authors should commit to take into account the suggestions, observations and evaluations of the editorial process, as well as the verification times and corrections requested by the team.

Authors of rejected articles will receive a notification from the publisher along with the evaluations that clarify the reason for rejection.

Authors will be permanently informed about the editorial process. The Editors and Support Manager will be attentive to resolve any doubts or queries. Similarly, the author can be consulted to solve difficulties or concerns that the editorial team has during the article evaluation.

The Journal will make corrections of style with authorization of the author. The editor with the editorial team will inform the author of the acceptance of the text once it has complied with all the requirements and deadlines stipulated by the Journal.

As complement, the Journal warns the authors that plagiarism is punisheb by vetoing author or author for two years, Plagiarism is the action of reproduce or paraphrase segments included in other documents without the correspondent quotation or knowledge.

Plagiarims is commited when:

Segments of other works are included in the paper without quotation marks or without reference the original source.

  • Segments of other works are copied and pasted without pointing out that the text is a textual quotation and without reference the original source.
  • Figures, tables or diagrams are included in the docuement without their origin acknowledgment.
It is necessary to clarify that plagiarism, conscious or not, is a serious and judgmental fault
  
EVALUATORS/ PEER REVIEW

After a first article review carried out by the Editorial Staff, and after confirming that all the requirements requested by the journal are fulfilled, the texts are sent for evaluation, following the double-blind process of external peers, who must have an H5 citation index ≥ 2. Reviewers must verify that the article subject agrees with his/her area of expertise. Reviewers must declare that there are not professional, personal, academic or moral conflicts that can interfer in the evaluation process.

The reviewer must submit a clear and rigurose concept. This concept will be used by the Editorial Committee to take the article final decision (accepted or rejected). Reviewers offensive lenguaje is not allowed.

When the evaluations are contrary, or in case of doubt, a third evaluator will be requested to settle the discussion about the evaluation.

The documents sent to reviewers are confidential and the review is only for evaluative purpose. The documents quotation as unpublished articles or the use of content before publishing are unauthorized.

EDITORIAL STAFF

The Editorial Staff of the Electronic Journal in Education and Pedagogy is responsible for complying with requirements demanded by different References Indexing System, databases and repositories, to reach high quality standards. The editorial staff will be responsible for the rigorous follow-up of the editorial process for each article send to the Journal, since the postulation until the final decision.

Editorial Staff reserves the right to not publish articles that not fullfil the author guidelines or articles in which the author does not attend the reviewers coments and suggestions inside the specified deadlines.

Finally, the Editorial Staff is responsible for disseminating the publication with authors and collaborators in general.

Signature standardization policy

The authors must standardize their signature by entering http://www.iralis.org/es and use it in the signature of the article to be cited correctly.

This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle that making research available to the public free of charge, which fosters a greater exchange of global knowledge

Declaration of originality and conflict of interest

The authors must attach to the article submitted to the Journal, the Declaration of Originality Form and Declaration of Interest Conflict. In the latter, the authors must declare that they do not have any potential or real financial, personal or any other type of conflict with other people or organizations that could negatively influence the work done.
