Abstract

Riosucio, a historical, cultural and traditional town, is located northwest of the Department of Caldas; and there, the Carnival, which takes its same name, is celebrated. Carnival of Riosucio, a democratic celebration whose main characteristics are the equalization, the investment and the opening, features that took to analyze the participation of the boys and girls in this festive rite, like an experience of political subjectivity. Keeping mind that education should be a process oriented to human development and social transformation, we worked with three primary schools of the Foundations Educational Institution of Riosucio, with the fourth and fifth grades, under the action research, in order to work together around the Carnival, to generate from the realization of workshops, focus groups and performance in the pre-carnival of Riosucio, a transformation in participation from the school, showing this educational scenario as enabler of empowerment and popular education that allows resist, appropriate and safeguard traditions by generating an promoting process from authentic participation to evidence the festive rite as a space to share and strengthen knowledge, as another possible world where participation shows children as political individual who are agents of their reality.
