Reading Autobiography: Embracing the Opportunity to Be Who You Are - A Reflection on the Training of Literacy Mediators

Narrative research serves as a methodological tool that encourages individuals to reflect on their personal history through autobiographical storytelling. Hence, for literacy mediators, a reading autobiography provides an opportunity to reflect on and to revisit their journey, thus, seeking experiential elements from their personal past that can help to shape their practices. Above all, this methodology enables individuals to recognize their identity as readers, which in turn motivates them to persevere in their learning journeys, improves their reading practices, and constructs the perception of the “reader self”. This concept is reminiscent of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy, which urges individuals to “become what one is”.
