Digital divide and quality of university education Latin America during Covid- 19 pandemic

The purpose of this article was to carry out a comparative study with the students and facilitators of the Public Accounting program from University of Manizales (Colombia), Ricardo Palma University (Peru) and Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín Private University (Venezuela), based on their reflections on the influence of the digital divide on the quality of university education during the Covid-19 pandemic. This work was exploratory-descriptive. Based on discretionary sampling, an online survey is used as a data collection technique. The results reveal that students have had to carry out a lot of reading and fulfill several assigned jobs in order to achieve the planned objectives, having greater flexibility in time management. Likewise, facilitators have not had access to a continuous update in the management of technological tools and only through use of reading have been able to acquire strengths and overcome the barriers presented by virtual modality, so they consider that the adaptability coming from institutions has been deficient. It was concluded that the actors of the educational process were not prepared for virtual modality, and the digital divide was a determining factor in the quality of university education in Latin America during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the use of technological and digital tools applied to the educational field and to generate improvements in the teaching-learning process.
