This article is a reflection on the educational system of Romania, which starts from a general vision of the social and economic situation of the country in its European context, a fundamental key to understand the functioning of its educational system and its dynamics, exceptional in Europe, of corruption and bribery in education. To do this, we make a slight comparison between education before to 1989 with that of the current democratic system, an education that responds to the structural changes given in the country in the last thirty years. In this sense, we also analyze the economic situation of Romanian teachers, which we believe, following several authors, is the ultimate cause of corruption and bribery in Romanian education.
